Bert Simons of Rotterdam has found a way to always surround himself with friends- make them out of paper! Using a computer program, he made 3-D images of himself and his friends and then flattened the images, printed them out and assembled them into extremely realistic paper sculptures. Despite the natural impossibility, scientists working for a Japanese whisky company have figured out how to grow blue roses. To achieve this, they had to implant a blue pigment gene from pansies into the roses. They hope to begin sales in 2009 of the new flower.
As an attempt for the world record, a 13-year-old Washington boy has blown up over 200 balloons in an hour- with his nose. 213 balloons, each measuring at least 20 cm, were inflated by the boy using one nostril at a time, and he even tied them himself!

Everyone wants a midnight snack now and then, even alligators! An elderly Florida woman discovered this when she found one hanging out in hr kitchen! She said in order to get where it was, the alligator probably pushed through her screen door, walked through the open glass door, traveled through the living room and down a hallway! When authorities arrived, the gator had been cut by a plate that fell during all the commotion. No other injuries occurred.
A 2-year-old boy is in stable condition after a gust of wind blew his stroller into Lake Michigan. The child was 10 feet underwater for approximately 15 minutes in 42 degree water! The boy’s grandfather was sitting on the bench next to him. When the wind caught the stroller he went running after him but would not have been able to rescue him without the help of a few rescue divers.
New Jersey resident Bernie Peng thought it was time to propose to his girlfriend so he hacked her favorite computer game so that when she reached a certain score, his proposal would pop up on the screen with the picture of a ring. The game company heard about it and instead of pressing charges for altering their game, they offered to help pay for the wedding and distribute deluxe versions of the game as wedding favors!
In New York, a bank accidentally gave $2 million of a client’s money to another client with the same name! The man tried to explain to the bank attendant that he did not have a $5 million account, but they insisted it was his money and he was able to withdraw it, so he did. He was later arraigned on grand larceny.
Once upon a time in Genoa was a beautiful woman who worked at a post office. One day, a robber came into the post office and demanded all the money from the beautiful woman and so she gave it to him. The robber was so smitten with the woman that the next day he returned with flowers purchased with the stolen money and asked the woman on a date. He was then arrested.
An Australian survey shows that most people admit to participating in risky activities while driving, and most acknowledge text messaging as the most dangerous of them. Eight percent of men and five percent of women surveyed had crashed due to distracting activities such as chasing an insect, kissing, shaving and reading the newspaper.
An albino alligator has been rescued from the wild and taken to safety at a Florida zoo. Their lack of pigment makes them easy targets for prey in the wild. The alligator is on loan to a German zoo right now. As of 2007, there were only 30 known albino alligators.
In the UK, a woman has taken up the profession of animal whisperer. About a year ago she took a course with world renowned animal communicator, Amelia Kinkade, and now she sometimes confuses animals’ voices for people! She helps pet owners diagnose health and behavioral problems by talking with the animals, who sometimes respond in accents!
A man in China has a pretty unusual pet. For the last 11 years, he’s taken care of a snail. He found the now giant snail one day on his way home from school when it was only the size of a coin. The snail has its own home and is fed water and soil, and taken on weekly walks through fields.
An Indian bank warned their customer about a termite problem they had, and advised them to remove papers from their safe deposit boxes, unfortuntely Dr. prasad did not hear this notice on time and found his once rich box (valued $16000 plus gold and silver) full of nothing but dull metal, paper bits and termite dust, since the box was undamaged the bank will not claim liability, Mr. prasad had not been to the bank for months.
Arkansas held a special legislation session during which they cleared up a foggy law that allowed constituents of any age- even toddlers- to marry with parental consent. The law has since been changed to boy no younger than 17 and girls no younger than 16, even with parents consent
This is Dede Koswara...he is known as the Treeman of Java, Indonesia. he is afflicted with the Human Papilloma Virus that got way out of control...(HPV...ya that is that the simple vaccination everyone is up in arms about). One day Dede cut his leg (on WHAT?!), and the next day a wart showed up and ultimately led to this. The warts have a "bark"-like texture, which led to the "TREEMAN" nickname. Oh, and it was much, much worse! In this photo, he is just OUT of surgery where he had 4 lbs off warts removed! Dede can now walk and hold a pen. He will have a few more operations and hopes to lead a normal life
When a hot water line broke, Richard Szymanski was out of luck. He flushed the toilet and noticed it start to steam. Before he could get up, an explosion of hot water launched him feet in the air, pushing him into the shower wall. The fire department responded to the call quickly and determined the man was unharmed.
